Due to greater average claims and rising healthcare inflation, health insurance premiums have climbed by 10 to 25% in recent years. According to health insurance industry sources, typical claims have increased from Rs 40,000-50,000 to Rs 80,000 in the last two years.
Premiums have risen across the board, according to data given with TNIE by insurance aggregators, with a maximum average increase of 36% in the 18-30 year age range. The average growth in the remaining age categories has been 20-25 percent. Star Health, Universal Sompo, Manipal Cigna, and Care Health Insurance, according to an insurance aggregator, are among the companies that have lately raised their premiums.
